The forecast for global grain production in 2023/2024 has increased to 2.31 billion tonnes. In Russia, a harvest of 134.4 million tonnes is expected, with grain and wheat exports reaching 61 and 50.4 million tonnes respectively.

In the European Union, the crop is estimated at 269.3 million tonnes with grain and wheat exports at 48.2 and 34.3 million tonnes.

In Kazakhstan, the grain harvest forecast is 16 million tonnes, while in Ukraine it is 66.4 million tonnes with exports of 37 million tonnes.

The forecast for grain production in the world for 2024 has been raised to 2854 million tons due to the growth in feed grains. Consumption is also higher than last year. Grain stocks will remain high by the end of 2025. Global grain trade remains stable, with changes in the export of various types of grain.

Indonesia has increased grain imports from Russia: this year 95 thousand tons were purchased for $26.1 million, which is 11 times more than the previous year. The total volume for six months reached 782.6 thousand tons for $221.4 million, which is 80% of last year's shipments.

In 10 months of 2024, the Rostov region exported 3.04 million tons of wheat, which is 11% more than the previous year. The exported products went to Turkey, Egypt, Greece, and Albania.

The export duty rate on sunflower oil from the Russian Federation will increase to 9,195.8 rubles per ton in December, which is three times higher than in November. Prices for sugar have risen: SBK24 futures closed at +0.27 (19.54; +1.40%), ICE №5 SWQ24 rose by +9.60 (568.90; +1.72%). Conab reduced the forecast for sugar production in Brazil for the 2023/24 season, but increased the forecast for ethanol production.

"Agricultural holding 'Astarta-Kyiv' has reported that sugar production at five plants has increased to 271 thousand tons of sugar since the beginning of August. The segment's revenue has grown by 19% to 169 million euros for 9 months. Sugar exports have increased by 43%, reaching 289 thousand tons."

Russia will increase the export of agricultural products to Chile, focusing on wheat. By 2030, exports could reach $110-111 million. In recent years, Chile has been actively purchasing plant and animal products from Russia. Experts believe that the future of trade will depend on consumer preferences in Chile, especially on prices of goods.

Company AGROTRAY conducted 313 studies on winter wheat and rapeseed. 7 new varieties with increased yield and resistance have been developed. 2 wheat varieties and 5 rapeseed hybrids have been selected for production. Standard plant protection schemes have been tested. Herbicides and fungicides will be tested in 2025.

The Russian Union of Flour Mills predicts an increase in flour production to 10.3 million tons in 2024. The production of wheat flour is growing, while rye flour is decreasing due to the high cost of grain. A decrease in rye harvest is expected in the future.
