The Institute for Agricultural Market Studies (IKAR) was considering increasing the grain harvest forecast for 2025. However, due to frosts in several regions of Russia, this will not happen for now.
"We have already considered raising the forecast twice, but each time due to new circumstances, we have to postpone this initiative. Just last night, we decided not to make any changes yet and wait for the situation to develop," he commented.
Rylko explained that the condition of grain crops in the Rostov region and several other regions is particularly worrying. According to him, the consequences of the frosts may not manifest immediately, but within a week or even longer.
The expert also mentioned IKAR's forecasts, according to which the grain harvest volume in Russia by 2025 will reach 129.5 million tons, including 82.5 million tons of wheat. Rosstat data for 2024 indicate a harvested grain crop of 125.85 million tons, of which 82.5 million tons are wheat.
Frosts had a negative impact on several regions of the Central Chernozem Region on the night of Sunday, April 27. The following night, negative temperatures moved further south by 50-100 kilometers and affected the Middle Volga region. According to the statement of the chief specialist of the "Phobos" weather center, Yevgeny Tishkovets, the cold will recede from Tuesday, and the night temperatures will become consistently positive.
