Russian President Vladimir Putin's offer to supply Turkey with one million tons of grain for further processing and delivery to countries in need is being considered in Moscow as an alternative to a deal in the Black Sea region. This information is contained in an official statement from the Russian Foreign Ministry, published on the portal of the TASS news agency.
Representatives of the Russian Foreign Ministry and Turkey, Sergey Lavrov and Hakan Fidan, expressed their intention to work out the conditions for implementing the Russian President's proposal to supply one million tons of Russian grain to Turkey on preferential terms with funding from Qatar, followed by processing at Turkish enterprises and delivery to countries with the greatest needs. These plans of the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs will be emphasized during the upcoming negotiations between the two ministers.
Furthermore, it is noted that the Russian authorities view this project as the optimal working alternative to the Black Sea deal.
Diplomats also plan to discuss the issue of ships heading to Ukraine as potential carriers of military cargo.
"It is planned to discuss the situation that arose after the cessation of the activities of the Black Sea grain export initiative from Ukrainian ports on July 18 of the current year. We will once again convey to the Turkish side Russia's position, as expressed in the statement of the Russian Ministry of Defense dated July 19, according to which all vessels heading to Ukraine are considered as potential carriers of the military cargo component involved in the conflict on the side of Kyiv," - emphasized the department.
