According to the statement of the Consul General Nguyen Mai Hyong, the main goal of the meeting is to help companies from both countries better understand their markets and increase the number of companies exporting agricultural products. This will contribute to expanding trade cooperation in the agricultural sector between Vietnam and the Chelyabinsk region.
Nguyen Mai Hyong noted that in recent years, the volume of exports between Vietnam and the Chelyabinsk region has significantly increased. Vietnam exports vegetables, fruits, processed food products, tea, and spices to the Chelyabinsk region. In turn, the Chelyabinsk region exports animal fats, vegetable oil, wheat, cereals, and flour to Vietnam.
“We have great potential, Vietnam can export to the Chelyabinsk region and other types of products, such as seafood, tea, rice, confectionery, and cereals. The commodity structure of agricultural products in both countries does not compete but complements each other. A free trade agreement between Vietnam and the Eurasian Economic Union, including Russia, can help our countries. Support and assistance from the government of the Chelyabinsk region are very important,” said Nguyen Mai Hyong.
Deputy Minister of Agriculture of the Chelyabinsk region Inna Podshivalova emphasizes that the Chelyabinsk region is one of the most important agro-industrial regions in Russia. The region holds leading positions in the production of durum wheat, pasta products, flour, cereals, and chicken eggs. The grain production volume exceeds two million tons, with a focus on hard wheat varieties. There is also a growth in the production of oilseeds, as noted by Inna Podshivalova.
“In animal husbandry, the region specializes in poultry and pork production. The annual volume of meat production of all types is about 400 thousand tons. The Chelyabinsk region is the leader in Russia in the production of pasta products, ranks second in flour production, and third in cereal production. There are over 600 food production enterprises in our region. We are the main exporter of agricultural products in the Ural Federal District. We supply 95 types of goods, including wheat, barley, flour, pasta products, sunflower oil, margarine, confectionery, sausages, beverages, and ice cream. We have great potential for the development of agro-exports to Vietnam,” said Inna Podshivalova.
Mak Quoc Anh, head of the Hanoi Association of Small and Medium Enterprises, also welcomes the Chelyabinsk region. The association unites 11,000 companies ready not only to import Russian goods and export their products to Russia but also to engage in logistics operations and find buyers for products from Chelyabinsk.
Dang Hyong, head of the Organic Farming Association of Vietnam, shared information about the organic product market in the country. The association is currently exporting coconuts, rice, anise, tea, and shrimps. The main demand for these products is observed in the three major cities of Vietnam: Hanoi, Danang, and Ho Chi Minh City, where it amounts to about 500 billion dong per year (approximately $19 million USD). In 2023, exports reached 300 thousand tons per year. Currently, there are over 200 export organizations in the country, but shipments to Russia remain insignificant.
Representatives of 14 South Ural food companies presented their products to colleagues from Vietnam.
In particular, “Soyuzpischeprom” already exports vegetable oil and pasta products to Vietnam and plans to expand its range of supply, including vegetable drinks and dry cereals. JSC “Makfa” also supplies pasta products and flour to the Vietnamese market and is ready to increase export volumes to this country. The company “Sitno” offers Vietnamese consumers flour, pasta, and confectionery.
Companies willing to supply and increase shipments to Vietnam include “Chebarkulskaya Ptitsa” (fertilizer based on humic acids), “Ariant” (pork and semi-finished products), “Prodholding” (oil products and dry mixtures), “Vkusnoel” (ready meals in retort pouches), “Raduga” (pet food), Khlebprom (whole grain crisps), and “Ozersky Distillery” (strong alcohol).
