Research from the St. Petersburg branch of the Federal Center for Assessment of Safety and Quality of Agricultural Products (TSOK APK), subordinate to the Rosselkhoznadzor, indicates that grain exports have reached 698 thousand tons from the beginning of 2025 to April 22. This exceeds the figures for the same period last year by 2.4 times, emphasized the press service of this institution.
The ports of the Leningrad region and St. Petersburg continue to lead in the Northwestern Federal District in terms of grain exports and its processed products. Africa has become the number one buyer this year, with 300 thousand tons of grain exported, accounting for 46% of the total export volume. Additionally, new markets have been opened, including Senegal, Togo, Nigeria, Mali, Tunisia, and Libya. At the same time, deliveries to Morocco remain stable.
When exporting grain, specialists from the branch strictly control its quality, including safety, absence of quarantine organisms, and compliance with the standards of importing countries. Special attention is paid to the requirements of Morocco, where feed grain must be colored. Since the beginning of the year, 100 thousand tons of grain have already been colored using safe food dyes.
In addition to African countries, Middle Eastern countries, including Israel and Saudi Arabia, also show interest in the grain exported from the Baltic ports.
