In the 2024/25 season, the corn crop was grown under more favorable weather conditions.
Corn production in Thailand in the 2024/25 season remained unchanged and reached 5.4 million tons, which is 2% higher than in the previous 2023/24 season. This became possible due to the expansion of cultivated areas and the increase in average yield.
The Foreign Agricultural Service of the US Department of Agriculture in Bangkok explained that this year the corn crop was cultivated under more favorable weather conditions and suffered less damage from drought compared to the previous year 2023/24.
The average prices for corn for farms in the period from January to July 2024 were around $251 per ton, which is 19% lower than in the same period last year.
This price decrease is due to the increase in local production and a significant increase in duty-free imports from neighboring countries, mainly from Myanmar, under the ASEAN Free Trade Agreement.
