The VTB banking group, including the parent company VTB, plans to continue providing financial support to farmers, including through the use of preferential programs. This was reported by the bank's press service "Agroexpert."
In light of recent events regarding Sberbank's refusal to provide preferential loans to agricultural producers, all attention is now turning to Rosselkhozbank. This bank is the main player in the market for financial support of the Russian agro-industrial complex. If individual banks refuse to finance agricultural production, the volumes of preferential loans will be redistributed among other banks.
"We have plans to provide financial assistance to agricultural producers, including investment and working capital loans in accordance with the Ministry of Agriculture program, by 2025," representatives of the bank's press service emphasized.
In December 2024, VTB reported an increase in the volume of its corporate loan portfolio by 16.3%, totaling 24.4 trillion rubles, compared to the beginning of the year. Loans to legal entities grew by 20.2%, reaching 16.8 trillion rubles, while credit funds allocated to small and medium-sized enterprises increased by 19.4% to 3.9 trillion rubles, comprising 16% of the total loan portfolio of the group.
As part of the preferential lending program, agricultural enterprises can receive both short-term (up to two years) and investment (up to 15 years) loans. Since 2017, farmers have had the opportunity to receive loans at an interest rate of up to 5% per annum for any purpose. From 2024, preferential lending depends on the refinancing rate, and funds are allocated to specific areas of activity.
In 2025, it is planned to allocate over 300 billion rubles for preferential lending to farmers, just like in 2024. In particular, spring sowing work will be subsidized in the amount of over 28 billion rubles, as announced by Russian Deputy Prime Minister Dmitry Patrushev at the end of last year.
As of the end of 2024, the total amount of credit funds issued by leading banks for seasonal field work amounted to about 1.2 trillion rubles, which is 2.7% more than the previous year: Rosselkhozbank managed to increase the loans provided for these purposes by 3.4%, reaching 849.8 billion rubles, and Sberbank - by 1.3%, amounting to 386.6 billion rubles.
