The sunflower harvest forecast has been reduced by 0.6 million tons to 15 million tons. Last year, 17.25 million tons were harvested. The analytical organization "ProZerno" has reduced the forecast for sunflower production by 0.6 million tons to 15 million tons without taking into account new regions, according to information from "Interfax". Last year, 17.25 million tons of this agricultural crop were harvested. Vladimir Petrichenko, the CEO of the company "ProZerno", describes the situation with sunflower as "extremely challenging". The forecast for soybean production has also been reduced from 7.7 million tons to 7.37 million tons (compared to 6.82 million tons in 2023). Experts add that currently, the yields of sunflower and soybeans in southern regions are decreasing, so estimates may worsen.

According to the analytical center of the company "Ruseed", sunflower harvesting has begun in 18 regions. By September 5, almost 745 thousand hectares of crops were harvested, which amounts to 6.8% of the planned harvesting area. Analysts estimate that sunflower was planted this year on 10.9 million hectares, including new regions. Without taking into account new regions, according to Rosstat data, the sown area amounted to 9.75 million hectares (compared to 9.82 million hectares in 2023).

By harvesting speed, Krasnodar Krai is leading with 47.9% of sunflower crops harvested. In second place is Stavropol Krai (41.4%), and in third place is Adygea (33.4%). The smallest amount harvested so far is in the Saratov region—only 0.04% of the total sown area. In terms of sown area, the Saratov region ranks first (1.45 million hectares, according to Rosstat data). In the Orenburg region (second place in sunflower sown area - 1.18 million hectares), harvesting has not yet begun, while in the Rostov region (third place in sown area - 945.1 thousand hectares), 17% of the total area has been harvested.

According to calculations by "Agroinvestor" based on analysts' data from "Ruseed", the current average sunflower yield is 18.47 hundredweight per 100 hectares. Last year, the average yield was 18.4 hundredweight. The highest sunflower yield is currently noted in the Central Federal District, according to analysts. For example, in the Lipetsk region, farmers harvested 36 hundredweight per 100 hectares (compared to 22.8 hundredweight last year, according to Rosstat), in the Kursk region—26.4 hundredweight (compared to 26.2 hundredweight), in the Tambov region—24.1 hundredweight (compared to 22.2 hundredweight). In addition, high sunflower yields are recorded in Kabardino-Balkaria—31.3 hundredweight (compared to 22.8 hundredweight).

In Krasnodar Krai, which leads in harvesting speed, the current average sunflower yield is 19.8 hundredweight per 100 hectares (compared to 27.6 hundredweight in 2023), in Stavropol Krai—16.1 hundredweight (compared to 22.3 hundredweight), in Adygea—16.8 hundredweight (compared to 20.5 hundredweight). In the Saratov region, where harvesting has just begun, the yield is 8.1 hundredweight (compared to 14.9 hundredweight), and in the Rostov region—14.4 hundredweight (compared to 25 hundredweight).
