The seed seller from China received a warning from the Rosselkhoznadzor for violating the legislation.

Roszdravnadzor has issued a warning to an individual entrepreneur in the Khabarovsk region for selling seeds of agricultural plants from other countries without Russian-language labeling. The seeds have not been tested for GMOs, quality compliance, and registration. The packaging does not meet legal requirements.

It is known that Russian gardeners prefer Chinese seeds, and some sellers of varieties have decided to take advantage of this by adding the word "Chinese" to the names of cucumbers, tomatoes, peppers, and other vegetables. However, in this case, the businessman decided to act more reliably by confidently selling seeds clearly originating from China.

On April 10, the Primorsky interregional department of the Rosselkhoznadzor sent a warning to the individual entrepreneur Prokhorov A.S. in the Khabarovsk Krai about violations of mandatory requirements when selling seeds of agricultural plants.

During the inspection, it was found that the shop owned by the individual entrepreneur Prokhorov A.S. at the Central market of the city of Khabarovsk sells packaged seeds imported from other countries that do not contain information in Russian.

The store's assortment includes 39 different types of seeds, including cucumbers, tomatoes, carrots, spinach, onions, radishes, cabbage, and turnips. It is assumed that these seeds originate from China.

The lack of labeling in Russian and information about the importer indicates that the seed packaging does not comply with Russian legislation.

According to information from the Rosselkhoznadzor Administration, these batches of seeds have not undergone mandatory checks for the presence of genetically modified organisms, as well as their compliance with the variety, quality, and absence of quarantine pests. Moreover, these seeds are not registered in the State Register.

The Rosselkhoznadzor Administration reminds of the requirements of the legislation, which stipulate that the following information must be indicated on the packaging of seeds intended for sale in Russia: the exact name of the crop and variety, matching the records in the State Register; information about the manufacturer and/or importer of the seeds; batch number; weight (in grams) or quantity (pieces) of seeds per package; packaging date.

The sale of seeds is allowed only if they are included in the State Register of agricultural plant varieties and hybrids with permission for use and are accompanied by documents confirming their varietal and sowing characteristics.

In accordance with the requirements of the Federal Law "On Seed Production," the individual entrepreneur Prokhorov A.S., who committed violations, was warned by the Rosselkhoznadzor Administration.
