A new way to combat pests: drones will distribute beneficial insects in agriculture.

Russian agricultural producers can use drones for distributing beneficial insects, fighting pests, and protecting crops. The company Flyseeagro develops and distributes entomophages using unmanned aerial vehicles, collaborating with research institutions on the creation of biopesticides.

The possibility of spreading beneficial insects using drones has opened up to domestic agricultural producers. Vasily Ptitsyn, the head of the Russian Union of Unmanned Agricultural Aviation and the founder of Flyseeagro company, shared about the new achievement in agriculture with the Agroexpert publication.

“We have created two devices and sets for releasing insects using drones in the form of eggs, larvae, or adult insects. I have been working on this project for eight years. We operate across the entire European part of Russia and actively promote this method of pest control among agricultural producers. We also have contacts in 18 countries where there is great interest in our technologies,” shared Vasily Ptitsyn.

Entomophages are beneficial insects that feed on pests. Speaking about the use of drones, the speaker added that they have already been used to spread three-g's. In agriculture, they are used for biological control of scale-winged pests on grain, technical, leguminous, and vegetable crops.

Flyseeagro company already has four types of entomophages in its arsenal, and the list is expanding, added the interviewee.

Flyseeagro company collaborates with the Federal State Budgetary Institution “All-Russian Plant Quarantine Research Institute” (FGBI “VIZR”), which is subordinate to the Federal Service for Veterinary and Phytosanitary Surveillance, including in the field of creating new biopesticides.
