Demand for feed is increasing due to the growth in the number of broilers and laying hens.
In Indonesia, all locally produced corn is used for animal feed production. According to the U.S. Department of Agriculture, around 90% of corn consumption is allocated to poultry farming. As the demand for feed grows along with the increase in the number of broilers and laying hens.
To meet this demand, it is predicted that feed mills will produce 21.4 million tons of poultry feed in 2024/25, increasing the total feed production to 23.3 million tons, representing a 3% growth compared to the previous year. This increase in the need for corn for feed is estimated at 9.3 million tons in 2024/25 and 9.4 million tons in 2025/26. With the increasing consumption of poultry meat and improvement in the economic situation, corn remains a crucial raw material for feed production, supporting Indonesia's growing demand for affordable protein.
