According to the statement of the Governor of Krasnodar Krai, the current area of young orchards planted amounts to 650 hectares, and it is planned to plant another 1200 hectares by the end of this year.
"To achieve this goal, 30 nurseries are in operation. We have managed to double the production of fruit seedlings. If in 2015 there were just over 3 million pieces, by 2023 we reached 6.5 million. This year we intend to achieve at least the same results. Our specialists grow high-quality and competitive planting material, which is popular among horticultural farms outside the region. Last year we harvested 486 thousand tons of fruit and berry crops, and by 2024 we plan to increase this figure," commented Veniamin Kondratyev.
The head of the region noted that almost 90% of the already planted orchards belong to the intensive and super-intensive types, which means denser planting: up to 5 thousand seedlings are planted per hectare, instead of the usual 800.
The development of horticulture and nursery farming in the region is greatly influenced by state support measures. In 2024, the subsidies for creating orchards were increased by 55%, and for maintenance work by 10%. The total amount of support exceeded 1 billion rubles.
In addition, the region has been implementing a grant support program "Small Orchard" for the seventh year. Compensation for the creation of intensive orchards and the purchase of agricultural machinery reaches up to 80%.
In Krasnodar Krai, more than 400 enterprises are engaged in horticulture. Horticulturists in this region account for about 40% of the total volume of fruit and berry production in Russia.
