In the Lviv region, where the soil allows, Ukrainian farmers have started sowing early spring crops, as reported by the press service of the Department of Agro-Industrial Development of the Lviv Regional State Administration.
The first plots sown with spring wheat cover an area of 1.2 thousand hectares, and with oats - 0.115 thousand hectares.
According to the department's current data, it is expected that the total sowing area for crops in 2025 in two categories of farms (agricultural enterprises and households) will be 755.2 thousand hectares, which is 0.4 thousand hectares more than last year. Agricultural enterprises plan to sow 434.9 thousand hectares (+2.6 thousand hectares by 2024), which represents 57.5% of the total sowing area.
Furthermore, agricultural enterprises plan to sow 97.5 thousand hectares with spring cereals and leguminous crops (+14.8 thousand hectares by 2024).
"The spring that has arrived has allowed farmers to actively start the sowing campaign. Even those farms that have not yet begun planting are already busy with other important work - early spring fertilization of winter crops is underway, and in some farms, re-fertilization has already begun," sums up the director of the Department of Agro-Industrial Development of the Lviv Regional State Administration Lyudmyla Honcharenko.
