A new limit has been set for duty-free corn imports to Turkey - 1 million tons until July 31, 2025. However, due to the existing 500,000 tons at the customs, only half of the limit will be available.

The initial limit for this year was also 1 million tons, but it was exhausted a month earlier due to high demand for animal feed.

In a recent announcement, it was declared that a new limit for duty-free corn imports to Turkey has been set at 1 million tons. According to information provided by European traders, this decision covers the period until July 31, 2025.

However, experts believe that only half of this new limit will be available for import due to the fact that approximately 500 thousand tons of corn are already stored in customs warehouses awaiting customs clearance.

Earlier this year, an initial limit on corn imports was set at 1 million tons as well, which was valid until June 30. However, due to increased demand for animal feed, the quota was exceeded by April 29. Under this initial quota, corn imports were subject to a 5% duty. Outside the limits, the duty was 130%.
