Acting Governor Ilya Seredyuk commented on the results of the sowing and noted that the goals set by President Vladimir Putin to ensure food security in the regions will be achieved in the Kemerovo region.
"This year, farmers are working in difficult conditions, but Siberia has always been known as a risky agriculture zone. I am confident that our experts are capable of growing a crop that will be sufficient for the needs of the region's residents, regardless of drought or excessive rainfall. Use science and new technologies. We will individually consider the needs of each farm and their work in the sowing campaign," said Ilya Seredyuk.
According to the data of the regional Ministry of Agriculture, the total sown area of agricultural crops is 938.7 thousand hectares, of which 838.4 thousand hectares are allocated for spring sowing. 574.4 thousand hectares are occupied by cereals and leguminous crops, 210.6 thousand hectares by technical crops, 8.0 thousand hectares by potatoes and vegetables, and 145.6 thousand hectares by fodder crops.
For spring sowing in Kuzbass, more than 7,000 units of self-propelled machinery, as well as trailed and mounted equipment, are involved. About 70 thousand tons of mineral fertilizers have been added over an area of more than 460 thousand hectares.
In Chebulin district, 47 thousand hectares were sown with spring crops. Nearly 500 units of equipment were used for this work.
In Guryevsky district, more than 41 thousand hectares of land have been sown. Here they grow wheat, barley, peas, buckwheat, oats, rapeseed, perennial and annual grasses, and traditionally plant potatoes.
The plan for planting potatoes has been completed in Krapivinsky district, where this year companies increased the area of second bread sowing by 156 hectares.
Over 58 thousand hectares in Yurginsky district have been sown with spring crops, including cereals and legumes on an area of almost 38 thousand hectares. Priority is given to wheat - 20,323 hectares, and rapeseed has been planted on 16,138 hectares.
After the end of spring sowing, Kuzbass farmers continue to work in the fields: they weed and control pests, sow annual grasses, and soon begin harvesting feed.
