Each new hybrid is developed with an emphasis on increasing yield, improving quality, disease resistance, as well as adaptability to drought and cold conditions. The planting process is carried out under the same parameters, creating equal conditions for evaluating and comparing different hybrids. This allows farmers to clearly compare hybrids and choose the most suitable ones for their farms.
Roman Kovalsky, Deputy Chairman of the Government of the Saratov Region, Minister of Agriculture of the region, emphasizes the importance of the work of breeding stations in the context of achieving the goals set by the President of the Russian Federation, Vladimir Putin, related to ensuring the country's food security.
“The tasks defined by the country's leadership require a systematic approach and responsibility at all levels of the agricultural sector. The key factor in achieving sustainable results is cooperation between scientists-breeders and agricultural producers. Our joint effort strengthens our food security, reduces dependence on seed imports, and provides domestic farmers with quality hybrids adapted to our conditions. The activities carried out at the Krasnokutskaya breeding station are of particular importance for achieving the set goals,” noted Roman Kovalsky.
He also points out that the hybrids developed in the Saratov and Ershov selections have already proven their effectiveness in the challenging weather conditions of 2024.
