It is projected that in the current agricultural season (July 1, 2024 - June 30, 2025), the export of grains from Russia will reach 56 million tons, including 45 million tons of wheat. This estimate was given by Arkadiy Zlochevskiy, the President of the Russian Grain Union, at a press conference.
"Exports are proceeding at historical rates, although new records have not been set. We estimate the export potential at 56 million tons, which is the total volume of grains, of which 45 million tons are wheat," Zlochevskiy stated.
He also noted that as of November 1, 2024, grain exports since the beginning of the agricultural season amounted to 25.1 million tons, which is 45% of the projected volume of 56 million tons, with wheat exports reaching 21.9 million tons (48.7%). "At this pace, there will certainly be a question about the quota for the second half of the season and whether it will be sufficient to realize this potential," Zlochevskiy emphasized.
The expert also added that currently, 98% of sown areas have already been harvested. "According to our estimates, we will achieve a sufficiently good harvest from a historical perspective, amounting to about 126 million tons," Zlochevskiy said.
"In any case, this will be related to a decent harvest capable of satisfying all the needs of the domestic market. This is just a small decrease in export potential," the expert emphasized.
