The corporate group "New Overland Grain Corridor" plans to collaborate with Iranian partners to build a grain and container terminal in the city of Sarakhs to facilitate grain deliveries from Russia to Iran. Valery Dubrovsky, the first deputy general director of EPT LLC, a part of the "New Overland Grain Corridor" group of companies, shared initial details with journalists, as reported by TASS news agency.
"Grain+", a similar hub currently in the development stage in the Zabaykalsky Krai, will be constructed in the city of Sarakhs, located in Iran. This location will host the grain and container terminal," Dubrovsky said. He also mentioned that the construction of the facility is expected to be completed by 2027.
It is projected that the costs for the grain terminal will be 10 billion rubles, and for the container terminal - 7 billion rubles.
Valery Dubrovsky noted that the company has already built a similar terminal in the Zabaykalsky Krai and is also working on plans to establish a similar container terminal on an adjacent site.
Previously, EPT LLC expressed its intention to supply 26 million tons of grain to Iran from 2024 to 2035. The cooperation agreement was signed with the Iranian logistics company IranianEurasia Trading and Logistics, situated in the special economic zone of "Sarakhs", a key transit point for Central Asian and Middle Eastern countries. Grain will be transported to Iran in special grain container wagons, and in return, these containers will be used to transport consumer goods and food products.
EPT LLC is part of the "New Overland Grain Corridor" group of companies, focused on developing and enhancing infrastructure for exporting grains and oilseeds from Siberia, the Urals, and the Russian Far East to China and Central Asian countries. The company's main objective is to increase grain production volumes in the three federal districts to 60 million tons in the medium term and up to 90 million tons in the long term.
