After successful negotiations between the President of Kyrgyzstan, Sadyr Japarov, and the President of Tajikistan, Emomali Rahmon, a series of documents were signed. This was reported by the press service of the Ministry of Economy and Commerce of the Kyrgyz Republic.
Among the signed documents are the following:
- An agreement on cooperation in the field of agriculture between the Ministry of Water Resources, Agriculture, and Agro-Processing Industry of the Kyrgyz Republic and the Ministry of Agriculture of the Republic of Tajikistan;
- An agreement on cooperation in the field of veterinary and phytosanitary safety between the Veterinary Service under the Ministry of Water Resources, Agriculture, and Agro-Processing Industry and the Food Safety Committee under the Government of the Republic of Tajikistan.
The parties expressed readiness to consider prospective directions for industrial cooperation, especially through the establishment of joint ventures for processing agricultural products and supplying finished products to the markets of the Eurasian Economic Union countries.
The Prime Minister of the Kyrgyz Republic, Adylbek Kasymaliev, emphasized the untapped potential for trade and economic cooperation. He expressed confidence in the possibility of increasing trade turnover to 500 million US dollars in the near future. Kasymaliev also highlighted the importance of import substitution, mutual procurement of goods and raw materials, emphasizing the necessity of diversifying trade relations, expanding the range of supplied products, and reducing dependence on external factors.
