It is reported that this year the condition of winter crops in almost the entire territory of the Rostov region does not meet the established deadlines due to weather conditions.
Recent rains have passed in the Southern, Azov, Central irrigated, and Eastern zones of the region, so winter wheat plants are at the initial stage of their development. In the northern part of the region, lodging has already begun in some areas. Out of 3 million hectares of winter wheat sown, the condition of 600 thousand hectares has been analyzed.
Specialists are monitoring seedlings, taking into account plant damage from diseases and pests. In terms of the phytosanitary condition of winter wheat, it is currently in a more favorable situation, as damage from diseases and pests, including mouse-like rodents, is minimal. It is reported that the situation with mouse-like rodents is under control and calm.
Also, thanks to the drought, the threat from the grain beetle has been averted. Specialists have found several fields with a low population of grain beetles on winter wheat stubble. These fields will be used for sowing spring crops or left fallow.
The future harvest of winter crops depends on the winter. If the winter is wet, warm, and snowy, the losses will be insignificant. Specialists from the regional Rosselkhozcenter continue to study the phytosanitary condition of winter crops in all regions of the Rostov region.
