China is increasing its share in the total volume of imported Kazakh wheat.
According to the International Trade Center data, in 2023 China imported 512.3 thousand tons of wheat from Kazakhstan, averaging 42.7 thousand tons per month. In the first 8 months of 2024, the import volume reached 450.7 thousand tons, which is 36% higher than the same period in 2023. The average monthly volume increased by 32% to 56.3 thousand tons.
It is worth noting that by August 2024, Kazakhstan took the leading position in the overall wheat import volume to China, accounting for nearly 14% of total shipments. Kazakhstan annually supplies approximately 4% of Chinese wheat imports.
Kazakhstan and China will discuss China's position as the largest grain importer, trading specifics, and price trends during the KAZAKH GRAIN & LOGISTIC FORUM 2024, which will take place on December 5-6 in Astana.
One of the speakers at the forum will be Fang Gang, the director of ZHEJIANG GRAIN GROUP Co.
