According to a statement made by the Minister of Food and Consumer Affairs of India, Prahald Joshi, the quota for duty-free import of yellow peas will not be extended after February of this year. This information is reported by the Russian Union of Grain Exporters and Producers.

The Minister confirmed the cessation of duty-free import of yellow peas by stating: "We are stopping the duty-free import of yellow peas."

It is worth noting that the Indian government in December 2023 allowed duty-free import of leguminous products into the country, and since then the quota has been extended three times. The last extension was made until February 28, 2025.

Last year, India purchased a total of 6.7 million tonnes of leguminous products, of which around 3 million tonnes were yellow peas that were imported.
