The Governor of the Novosibirsk Region, Andrey Travnikov, noted in his Telegram channel that there is a risk of seed shortage for next year's planting season in the region.
"Even the most experienced employees of our farms do not remember such unfavorable weather conditions. Farmers are forced to make significant efforts to maintain work schedules, choose suitable days for agricultural work. However, the most important thing is the quality of the harvest, and there is a serious risk of not obtaining seeds for the 2025 planting season," the governor wrote.
Earlier, the Government of the Novosibirsk Region decided to declare a state of emergency in the region from September 10 due to unfavorable weather conditions, which significantly hinder the harvesting campaign this year.
In August and September of this year, excessive soil moisture was recorded in some areas of the Novosibirsk Region. This not only affects the harvesting times but also the quality and quantity of the harvest.
"The introduction of a state of emergency in the Novosibirsk Region is fully justified. This is the first measure we have taken, including to help farmers negotiate with credit organizations and avoid fines, sanctions, and loss of state subsidies. After the end of the harvesting campaign, additional measures will be taken to maintain our agricultural potential and prepare for field work next year to compensate for the successful results of previous years," emphasized Travnikov.
