Experts from the branch of the Federal State Budgetary Institution "Federal Center for Assessment of Safety and Quality of Agricultural Products" in the Republic of Tatarstan are completing the assessment of the quality of the new wheat harvest.
At present, more than 2.1 million tons of wheat have already been analyzed in the branch, which represents 98.9% of the total volume selected for research within the framework of state monitoring this year (2.1 million tons).
The total number of grain samples selected is over 4,000, which have been studied in the laboratory of the branch. As a result of the research, 4,100 protocols were issued confirming that the majority of the grain belongs to food wheat.
"The studies showed that in the total mass of winter and spring wheat, more than 418 thousand tons (20% of the total volume) is valuable 3rd-class wheat with a protein content of 23% or higher, 818 thousand tons (39%) – 4th-class wheat with a gluten content of not less than 18%, and 852 thousand tons (41%) – 5th class," emphasized Tatiana Menlikieva, the director of the branch of the Federal State Budgetary Institution "FCSA APK" in the Republic of Tatarstan.
As Mrs. Menlikieva explained, the wheat of the new harvest of the 3rd and 4th classes meets the export requirements for key indicators for the flour milling industry. The maximum protein content in it reaches more than 19%, and the density reaches up to 824 g/l.
The quality and safety of wheat are checked against 19 criteria, such as color, smell, moisture, Falling Number, the composition of impurities of seeds, and weed vegetation.
All studies are carried out in accordance with the Order of the Ministry of Agriculture of Russia dated 08.09.2021 No. 611 "On approval of the list of consumer properties of grain produced in the territory of the Russian Federation for the purposes of grain state monitoring." This year, the branch received nearly 2,600 notifications from agricultural producers about the readiness of batches of wheat for research.
