According to the report by Barchart, on Thursday, prices for May world sugar №11 in New York (SBK24) fell by -0.61 (20.53; -2.84%), while prices for May London white sugar ICE №5 (SWK24) declined by -4.40 (609.00; -0.70%).
Against this backdrop, the cost of sugar showed a slight decrease: in New York, prices hit a monthly low, while in London they reached a three-week low.
Since the beginning of last week, sugar prices have been under pressure after the Sugar and Cane Control Board announced that sugar production in Thailand from December to March this year reached 8.75 million tons. This figure exceeds the previous estimates by the Thai Sugar Millers Corp, which estimated production volume at 7.5 million tons.
