Various issues related to the development of the agro-industrial sector in the Rostov region were discussed at the meeting. Special attention was paid to expanding the areas of land for reclamation, taking into account the reconstruction of the Don irrigation canal.
The Governor also emphasized the importance of supporting the export of agricultural products.
Currently, the Rostov region holds leading positions in Russia in terms of agricultural exports. The main volume of exports consists of grain, which accounts for approximately 71% of the total volume. Since the beginning of the year, there has been an increase in the supply of meat and dairy products. Products from the Rostov region are exported to almost 100 countries around the world.
Significant increases have been seen in shipments to friendly African countries, accounting for 26%. Angola and Mexico have become new markets for the agricultural complex products of the Rostov region, and Indonesia for wheat.
However, it is worth noting that a decrease in the harvest of early grains could affect the region's export opportunities this year.
The meeting also discussed issues of regional spatial development, including the participation of key settlements in the government program "Integrated Development of Rural Territories." Currently, 49 key settlements have been identified in the Rostov region, including cities and district centers.
