The oil and fat industry is one of the leading sectors of Russia's agro-industrial complex. The production of oilseeds and their processing continues to grow steadily. In the first quarter of this year, 382 thousand tons of rapeseed oil were produced, which is 25% more than in the same period last year. Due to this increase in production, the export of oil products is also growing. In January-March, it increased by a third in physical terms and by one and a half times in value. This information was provided by the Ministry of Agriculture of the Russian Federation.
The Ministry noted that Russia accounts for about 7% of the world's exports of oil products and ranks second in rapeseed oil exports among all countries.
The increase in export potential is facilitated by state support measures. The federal project "Export of Agro-Industrial Complex Products," which has been extended until 2030, retains basic and most effective tools, such as preferential lending and subsidies for transportation.
The Executive Director of the Oil and Fat Union of Russia, Mikhail Maltsev, points out that the area under rapeseed cultivation in our country continues to grow, and the production of this crop reaches record levels year after year. Rapeseed meal is a highly demanded feedstock not only in Russia but also abroad. In addition, rapeseed processing capacities are increasing.
At the same time, the production of rapeseed oil in Russia exceeds its consumption by more than 8 times, notes the managing partner of Agro & Food Communications, Ilya Bereznyuk. Export remains a promising direction, and by 2025, the positive trend in exports may not only be maintained but also strengthened, according to the expert.
