Starting from May 1, 2024, the rent rate for grain wagons on the Ukrainian railway will be reduced from 1100 to 100 UAH per day.

The cost of tank cars for product transportation will also decrease to 1400 UAH per day, while for type 972 wagons it will remain at 1450 UAH per day.

Flatcars will increase in price to 1400 UAH per day.

Futures for wheat on the Chicago exchange are rising due to weather conditions, reaching record levels. Prices for soybeans are falling, while corn prices remain stable. Dry and frosty weather is creating instability in the market. Experts anticipate a temporary price decrease due to rain. Harvest forecasts are less optimistic, but wheat prices may remain stable.

The European Commission has adjusted the forecast for rapeseed production to 19.41 million tons in 2024-2025 (2% lower than the previous forecast).

Sunflower production in the EU is over 10.6 million tons, while soybeans are at 3.1 million tons.

Russia increased agricultural exports to Indonesia by $283 million in 2023. Wheat supplies resumed, with Russia becoming the second largest supplier after Australia. Indonesia is one of the largest buyers. Plans are underway to increase exports to $650 million by 2030.

In Russia, they develop their own sugar beet seeds to reduce dependence on imports.

According to the plans of Soyuzrossakhar, in 2024, they will purchase 10% of seeds of Russian selection, which is 5 times more than before.

The Minister of Health of Estonia does not plan to introduce a tax on sugary products in the near future, despite suggestions from analysts. The decision is driven by insufficient evidence of the effectiveness of such a tax and already planned tax changes.

In 2025, two new citric acid production plants will be launched in Russia. One will be located in the Tula Region, and the other in the Voronezh Region. The Russian Agricultural Department has reduced water tariffs for farms in Kalmykia, saving up to 40 million rubles and helping to produce environmentally friendly rice-raw material. The support was provided by an agreement to reduce tariffs to 1.05 rubles per cubic meter. This allows the region to successfully grow rice in the face of challenging climatic conditions.

Statistics on grain prices: in May 2024, prices decreased by $3.67 per ton to $1062.53. This is a decrease of $18.55 per week and $68.34 per month.

The record price was in May 2022 ($2368.81), and the minimum was in January 2024 ($973.99). New minimums were set in October, September, and June 2024.

In Kazakhstan, mills have temporarily suspended their work due to pressure from cheap Russian flour. In the Pavlodar region, only 7 out of 15 flour mills are operating, while the rest have ceased their activities due to unfavorable conditions. Processors are asking for permission to purchase grain on more favorable terms to maintain production.
