"Ставропольский университет и "Союзсемсвекла" создают кластер по семеноводству сахарной свеклы для обеспечения продовольственной безопасности"
Stavropol Agrarian University and "SoyuzSemsevkle" are creating a sugar beet seed production cluster. The project will start operating in 2024 and will include 7 enterprises. The goal is to meet the needs of farmers for high-quality domestic seeds.

Stavropol State Agrarian University, in cooperation with the breeding and genetic center called "Union Sugar Beet," announced the establishment of a scientific and production cluster for primary seed production of sugar beet on the university's territory by the end of this year. The cluster will start operating in 2024 and will be engaged in the development and multiplication of domestic hybrid sugar beet seeds with the assistance of "Union Sugar Beet." Seven seed-growing and agricultural enterprises of the Stavropol Territory will be involved in this project.
According to the general director of "Union Sugar Beet," Roman Berdnikov, thanks to the climatic conditions and scientific potential of the university, the cluster will be able to produce high-quality seeds sufficient to ensure food security in the Russian Federation. It is expected that the cluster will supply at least half of the domestic farmers' needs in local seeds.
