The research on the composition of variety seeds sown in the 2025 harvest shows that the leading position among winter wheat varieties is held by Scepter - 36.5% of the total volume of sown seeds. This information was provided by experts from the regional Rosselkhozcenter.
In second place is the variety Priirtyshskaya 2, which constitutes 30.6% of the total volume, and the third place is taken by Omsk winter selection of the Federal State Budgetary Scientific Institution "Omsk ASC" with 29.8%.
As for winter rye, the seeds of the Siberia variety occupy more than 61.0% of the sown areas. This variety is also from the selection of the Federal State Budgetary Scientific Institution "Omsk ASC".
Changing varieties and updating their composition is a key factor in achieving stable and high yields in the future. Farmers need to regularly engage in this work and timely replace outdated varieties with new ones.
A wide choice of winter crop varieties is available to agricultural producers.
In the State Register covering 10 regions, 52 varieties of winter crops are recommended, including 25 varieties of winter wheat, 19 varieties of winter rye, and 8 varieties of triticale. Among them are 9 varieties bred by breeders from the Omsk region.
Currently, there are 9 varieties of winter grain crops of Omsk selection, including 5 varieties of winter wheat (Omsk 4, Omsk 5, Omsk winter, Priirtyshskaya, Priirtyshskaya 2), 4 varieties of winter rye (Irina, Irtyshskaya, Siberia, Siberia 4), and 1 variety of triticale (Omsk).
The report on sowing winter grain crop seeds shows that 0.27 thousand tons of original and elite seeds were sown, which is 37.7% of the total volume and 25.8% lower than the 2023 level.
Seeds from 1 to 4 reproductions amounted to 0.44 thousand tons, or 61.8%, which is 25.5% higher than in 2023.
Mass reproduction of seeds amounted to 0.004 thousand tons, which is only 0.5%, while in 2023 no mass reproduction seeds were sown.
