According to the data from RCB Rostov, in the Rostov region, there is a total percentage of emerged seeds which is 22.8%, with some areas where the percentage of non-emerged seeds ranges from 10 to 30%. There are also sparse fields with a percentage of lack of seedlings up to 30% in certain regions, such as Matveevo-Kurgansky, Neklinovsky, Zimovnikovsky, Dubovsky, Soviet, and Oblivsky districts. In connection with this, a representative of the regional branch of the Rosselkhoztsentr notes the need to consider the possible re-seeding of fields in the Azovsky, Matveevo-Kurgansky, Kuybyshevsky, Neklinovsky, Zernogradsky, Zimovnikovsky, and Dubovsky districts, as a certain amount of sprouted seeds has molded and will not break through to the surface for further development.
According to the branch's information, injuries to winter crops from frost and pests have not been detected in the entire region. By the start of the wintering period, 3% of seedlings are at the tillering stage, 29% of plants have formed 2-3 leaves, and 67.8% have emerged seedlings.
Experts report a significant increase in productive soil moisture reserves over the past three weeks, which were characterized by rains, fog, and wet snow.
A representative of Rosselkhoztsentr notes the favorable condition of the seedlings in many fields, thanks to the absence of frost and the rise in air temperature to +8 degrees in combination with the presence of moisture.
