The Armenian Statistical Committee reported barley imports (HS 1003) in September 2023 at 7,353 tons, compared to 10,653 tons last year. Total barley imports from January to September 2023 were 43,004 tonnes, up from 41,275 tonnes in 2022.

On the other hand, barley exports in September 2023 amounted to zero tons, which is also in line with last year's figures. Total barley exports from January to September 2023 also remained unchanged at zero tonnes, compared to 20 tonnes in 2022.

Analyzing these data, we can conclude that the import and export of barley in Armenia is stable during 2023. Imports continue to be high, but barley exports are not recorded during this period.

These figures can be interpreted as a slight decrease in the demand for barley on foreign markets or as a change in the preferences of domestic producers and consumers. Additional factors, such as price changes, political instability or market competition, may influence these trends.

The results of barley export and import are important indicators for analysis and planning in the agriculture and processing industry of Armenia. They help determine current economic conditions, evaluate the competitiveness of local products, and make decisions regarding long-term development strategies for these industries.

Monitoring barley exports and imports is important to ensure the sustainability and efficiency of Armenia's agricultural sector, as well as to support the sustainable development of the country's economy as a whole. Government agencies and industry representatives can use this data to forecast and take action to support and develop the industry.

Although there has been no change in barley exports this year, continued monitoring of barley trends will be helpful in identifying potential opportunities and challenges facing producers and exporters. This information can form the basis for developing strategies to increase exports and expand markets for barley in the future.
