At the meeting held in the Ministry of Agriculture of Chuvashia by the Deputy Prime Minister and the Head of Agriculture Sergey Artamonov, the progress of seasonal field work was discussed.
According to operational information, the harvesting of grain and leguminous crops in the republic has been completed on an area of 275 thousand hectares, which represents 99.5%.
The yield level reached 28.1 centners per hectare, resulting in a total grain harvest of 773.9 thousand tons. Although this volume is not a record, it still exceeds the average for the last 10 years, which is 729.5 thousand tons.
In addition to grains, in the 2024 season, agricultural producers will need to harvest technical crops from 44.5 thousand hectares, including sunflower, rapeseed, mustard, and flax.
The harvesting of these crops is nearing completion: as of today, combines have processed 48.3% of the areas, collecting a harvest weighing 44.4 thousand tons.
In 20 districts, potato harvesting continues. The area occupied by the large-scale sector for the "second bread" amounts to 4.5 thousand hectares, of which 3.5 thousand hectares have already been harvested, with a total harvest reaching 83.6 thousand tons. In addition, in 12 municipalities, the harvesting of vegetables grown in open fields is ongoing. Out of the planned 824 hectares, 298 hectares have been cleared, and the harvested crop amounts to 10.9 thousand tons.
Farmers are also preparing for the 2025 season. The sowing of winter crops has already been carried out on an area of 78 thousand hectares, which is 88.7% of the planned volume. The sowing process is fully completed in the Batyrevsky, Kozlovsky, Krasnoarmeysky, Morgaushsky, Cheboksarsky, Shumerlinsky, and Yadrinsky districts.
