Russian wheat supplies to Africa are being carried out on a regular basis free of charge, Russia fulfills all its promises, said Arkady Zlochevsky, President of the Russian Grain Union (RGU), at a press conference at TASS.
"Everything is going well with that, the deliveries continue. We do not include them in the overall export volumes, they are carried out outside the quota in accordance with intergovernmental agreements. As far as I know, around 200 thousand tons of wheat have already been shipped to African consumers, and the total volume will be approximately half a million tons. The remaining volumes are in the process of preparation. We fulfill all the promises that were made, and there are no problems with that," he noted.
Zlochevsky also emphasized that no one suffered from the suspension of the grain deal. "Moreover, during this time, despite the analysts' forecasts, wheat prices only decreased," added the union head.
In November 2023, the head of Russia's Ministry of Agriculture Dmitry Patrushev announced that Russia will supply up to 200,000 tons of Russian wheat to Africa free of charge by the end of 2023.
