The company "SovEcon" has increased the forecast for wheat harvest in Russia in 2025 by 1.5 million tons, to 81.6 million tons, as reported by the news agency "Interfax".
The reason for the forecast increase is the new estimate of winter wheat harvest, which is 54.3 million tons, 1.5 million tons more than the previous estimate.
"The area sown with this crop has increased from 15.39 million hectares to 15.43 million hectares due to accelerated progress in planting. In addition, the forecast for winter wheat yield has been raised from 34.3 hundredweight per hectare to 35.2 hundredweight per hectare, reflecting improvements in wheat growing conditions in southern regions of Russia," the company explained.
The forecast for spring wheat harvest remains unchanged at 27.3 million tons.
"SovEcon" slightly reduced the forecast for wheat harvest this year to 81.4 million tons from the previous 81.5 million tons. The forecast for corn harvest decreased to 11.5 million tons from 12.2 million tons, while the estimate for barley harvest remained at 16.5 million tons. The overall grain harvest forecast is 122.3 million tons, compared to the previous estimate of 122.9 million tons.
