According to the report of the Eurasian Sugar Association, as of April 15 of the current year, 465 thousand hectares of sugar beets were sown in the countries of the Eurasian Economic Union. This is 200 thousand hectares more than last year, as reported on the Soyuzrossahar website.
Belarus increased its sown areas to 49 thousand hectares, compared to last year when they were only 22 thousand hectares. Despite unfavorable weather conditions, Kazakhstan sowed 3 thousand hectares, and Kyrgyzstan sowed 9 thousand hectares, which is less than the previous year (14 thousand hectares). Russia, having completed sowing in the Southern and North Caucasus Federal Districts by 98%, sowed 403 thousand hectares of its sown areas.
It is expected that the total acreage of sugar beets in the countries of the Eurasian Economic Union will increase by 1% and amount to 1.2 million hectares.
