The Russian Ministry of Agriculture does not plan to abolish the export duty on grain sector products, but it is ready to make changes based on the current situation.
"We have been discussing this issue for three years. We do not intend to abolish the duty, but we are ready to make adjustments based on the current situation. We did this at the beginning of the last agricultural season, and we are planning to do it at the beginning of the current season," the minister noted. According to him, this approach will help reduce the financial burden on grain producers.
However, farmers point out that duties do not contribute to profitability in conditions of significant grain price reduction, nor are they fully returned to them as subsidies for emergencies. The Peasant-farmer and Agricultural Cooperative Union (AKKOR) has repeatedly drawn the attention of the Ministry of Agriculture and asked to abandon this mechanism. The organization last made this request last month. However, the ministry still considers this mechanism effective.
