Kursk State Agricultural University and LLC "BetaSem" - a division for seed breeding owned by the company " Prodimeks" - have signed a contract to conduct experiments with the genetic material of sugar beet. The University noted that cooperation with leading companies in this industry opens up new prospects for research, innovation implementation, and personnel training - as reported by Glavagronom.
Also, a strategic session on the development of beet growing and sugar industry took place at Kursk State Agricultural University. The event was attended by university representatives, the Ministry of Agriculture of the Russian Federation, agribusiness, and specialists. During the session, issues related to seed breeding, soil cultivation, plant protection, and crop storage were discussed.
The rector of the university, Alexander Musyal, reminded that the Ministry of Agriculture has identified beet growing as a priority direction until 2030. Currently, the share of domestic sugar beet seeds is only 3%, and by 2030, it is planned to increase this indicator to 50%. The participants emphasized the importance of state support and integration of modern research into the breeding process.
