During the first 8 months of 2024, Russian corn supplies amounted to more than 5 million tons, which is 7% higher than the same period last year. This information is reported by the federal center "Agroexport" in its Telegram channel.
The top 3 corn-importing countries are as follows:
- Iran holds the first place (47%);
- Turkey holds the second place (31%);
- Libya holds the third place (4%).
According to "Agroexport" forecasts, by 2030, the volume of Russian corn supplies may exceed 8.7 million tons.
According to Rosstat data, in 2024, the corn sown areas in Russia amounted to 3,991 thousand hectares, with the area allocated for grains being 2,624 thousand hectares. The main part of the plantings is located in the Central, Southern, and North Caucasian Federal Districts. Krasnodar Krai, Tambov, and Voronezh regions are the leaders among the regions.
In 2023, the world's largest corn exporters were Brazil (55.9 million tons), the USA (46 million tons), and Ukraine (26.4 million tons). Russia ranked 5th with a volume of 7.3 million tons.
