Plans to create about 1,000 jobs
The company "APK Resurs" plans to invest significant funds in a project for growing and processing rice in the Astrakhan region. The total investment amount will be about 15 billion rubles, and the project implementation is planned until 2026. This was announced by the Minister of Agriculture and Fisheries Ruslan Pashaev at a press briefing.
LLC "APK Resurs" intends to invest around 15 billion rubles in a project for growing and processing rice during 2023-2025. The plan involves putting into operation an additional 20-22 thousand hectares of rice fields. Moreover, the project creation will allow for the establishment of approximately 950 new jobs. The project will be implemented in the Kamyzyak and Chernoyarsk districts.
It is planned to use 27 thousand hectares of land for rice and wheat, which will be used to produce 146 thousand tons of grain crops. Out of this amount, 112 thousand tons will be rice, and 34 thousand tons will be wheat. Additionally, two grain processing plants are planned to be built, one with a capacity of 100 thousand tons, and the other capable of producing up to 57 thousand tons of rice groats and 21 thousand tons of compound feed.
An important aspect of the project is the ability to retain additional income and taxes in the region. Currently, entrepreneurs from the Astrakhan region grow rice and then send it for processing to the Krasnodar Territory. The project's goal is to create a production and processing chain within the region. The investor is also interested in this approach. This initiative stimulates the development of the regional economy and the agricultural sector.
In the Astrakhan region, various types of rice are traditionally grown, such as round-grain rice, long-grain varieties, and large-disperse rice for risotto. Agriculture is one of the strategic sectors of the region, and in 2021, more than 2 million tons of crops were harvested. Plant growing plays a leading role in the agricultural sector of the Astrakhan region.
