The Association notes that favorable conditions are developing for the supply of Russian pork to China. However, they did not specify what exactly they are referring to. "ViZH" reported that local pig breeders continue to incur losses, despite the increase in prices for this meat in April. According to its data, today the average prices amount to about 30-36 US dollars per head. The average price for live pigs in early April increased by 15 percent compared to the same month last year, but it is 4.4 percent lower than in March. Also, with the approaching kebab season, an increase in livestock prices is expected.
The publication also presented forecasts of the National Union of Pig Breeders on the production and export of this meat in the country this year. The organization expects an increase in pork production by seven percent to 5.9 million tons live weight. The head of the union and a member of the Expert Council ROSNG Yuri Kovalyov expects that in the next three to five years, our country will supply China with 200 to 250 thousand tons of meat, and its share of the total supplies to the PRC will amount to 5-10 percent. He noted that this is twice the current supplies. Kovalyov also expects that export revenue will exceed one billion dollars. At the same time, he reminded that last year our country exported about 250 thousand tons of pork products. "These are the maximum volumes for the markets that are open to us today," the expert noted.
