According to market operators, OAIC, the Algerian state agency for food procurement, acquired 660,000 tons of wheat during an international tender. However, some estimates suggest that an even larger amount, reaching 810,000 tons, was purchased, as reported by "APK-Inform" publication.
It is noted that the grain purchase contract was concluded at a price of $276 per ton C&F. It is expected that the deliveries will take place in October from countries in the Black Sea region, including Russia, Romania, and Bulgaria.
It is worth mentioning that Algeria traditionally represents an important market for wheat sales from the European Union, especially from France. Nevertheless, in recent years, Russian grain has been increasing its presence in this market.
