In 2023, the Rostov Region, Krasnodar and Stavropol Territories can harvest a record harvest of peas, Interfax reports with reference to a statement by the Director General of the Institute for Agricultural Market Studies (IKAR) Dmitry Rylko.
“In fact, records have already been set in the Krasnodar Territory and the Rostov Region, the Stavropol Territory is already close to the record. These regions are traditionally focused on the export of peas,” he said.
According to Rylko, 381,000 tons have already been harvested in the Kuban (in the original weight). “Cleaning continues, 6% of the area remains to be harvested,” he added, noting that Kuban set the previous record in 2021, when 337 thousand tons of peas were received for the entire year.
Agrarians of the Rostov region harvested 363 thousand tons, it remains to harvest another 30 thousand hectares. The region set a record in 2017, when the harvest amounted to 347 thousand tons.
In Stavropol, the harvest amounted to almost 600 thousand tons. “The previous record of 619 thousand tons was set in 2021. Most likely, they will get a little more and also reach a record figure, ”he said.
According to IKAR, the share of these regions in the collection of peas in the Russian Federation last year was 25%. This year, Rylko believes, it may increase. “They expanded the crops of this crop, besides, there was “pea weather” in these regions,” the expert noted.
