Agricultural enterprises of the Astarta-Kiev holding achieved impressive results in 2023, harvesting 200 thousand tons of corn with a yield of 10.35 tons per hectare. This figure exceeds the results of the previous year by 16.2%. The company announced this on January 25.
Also, the sugar beet harvest in the agricultural holding increased by 2.6% last year, reaching 2.2 million tons with a yield of 57.61 tons per hectare.
According to the company's press service, longer harvest times were caused by several factors. Difficult weather conditions, such as heavy and prolonged rainfall in October-November 2023, led to delays in harvesting and logistical difficulties in delivering raw materials to processing plants. In addition, some sugar mills have experienced operational disruptions and decreased productivity. An important factor was also the increase in the yield of late crops, which led to the highest yields of corn and sugar beets in the history of the holding.
In addition, this season, five Astarta sugar factories processed 2.7 million tons of sugar beets, producing 377 thousand tons of sugar. This includes both our own production and cooperation with partner agricultural producers.
The press service emphasized that the 2023 processing season was the best for the company over the past 5 years in terms of the volume of processed raw materials and sugar produced. The season lasted 130 days.
