Agricultural enterprises in the Krasnoyarsk region continue the harvest campaign despite the emergency situation. At the moment, 1.732 million tons of grain crops have already been harvested from 76.5% of the planned areas, as reported by the press service of the regional Ministry of Agriculture.

The grain yield is 26.4 centners per hectare. Last year, at the same date, the yield was higher at 28.9 centners per hectare, clarified the Ministry of Agriculture press service.

In addition, the rapeseed harvest completion level in the region is 68%, with 335 thousand tons already harvested. Potatoes have been harvested at 73.4 thousand tons, and vegetables at 13.2 thousand tons with yields of 196.8 and 226.5 centners per hectare, respectively.

According to the Central Siberian Hydrometeorology and Environmental Monitoring Service, warm and rainless weather is expected in the next few days. It is expected that agricultural enterprises will carry out all the necessary work during this time. Farms that have completed the harvest are providing their machinery to help colleagues and are offering drying equipment. Cooperation with representatives of insurance and leasing companies in the current situation has already been discussed. A meeting with leading banks is also planned, said Minister of Agriculture of the Krasnoyarsk region Ilya Vasilyev, as quoted by the press service.

In addition to harvest work, farmers are also preparing for the upcoming agricultural season by sowing grain seeds and plowing fallow land.

"At the moment, around 63% of the planned seeds of grains and legumes have already been sown, which amounts to about 147 thousand tons. The dynamics are positive. It is very important to prepare seeds not only for our own needs but also for sale on the regional market. Any quantity will be in demand. The main priority remains the harvest, but attention must also be paid to fallow preparation. At the moment, this work has been completed on 46% of the planned areas, a figure lower than last year at this date," commented Vice-Governor of the Krasnoyarsk region Leonid Shorokhov, as reported by the press service.

As previously reported, this year the harvest campaign in the Krasnoyarsk region started earlier than last year. Due to hot weather and moderate rainfall, all agricultural crops managed to develop well, but by the end of August and September, excessive rainfall significantly slowed down the harvesting pace.

Due to the abundance of rains and soil overmoistening, leading to partial crop loss, an emergency situation regime was declared across the region on September 20. This allows farmers to be exempt from fines for not reaching the target harvest indicators and to receive insurance payments for crop loss on time.
