After expanding to 11 countries, the BRICS group (Brazil, Russia, India, China, South Africa and six new members - Argentina, Egypt, Iran, UAE, Saudi Arabia and Ethiopia) accounts for 49% of world wheat production.

In 2021, the wheat harvest in the BRICS countries amounted to 49% of the world, and rice - 55%.

As a result of the BRICS summit in Johannesburg (South Africa), 6 new members were admitted to the group. The final declaration notes that the countries intend to strengthen cooperation in the field of agriculture, writes Prime.

     "Recognizing that the BRICS countries produce a third of the world's food, we reaffirm our commitment to strengthening cooperation in the field of agriculture and the development of sustainable agriculture of the BRICS countries to improve food security both within the BRICS and around the world," the declaration says.

In the season ended (July 1, 2022 - June 30, 2023), Russia delivered a record volume of grain to the world market - more than 60 million tons. This season, according to analysts, this figure may reach 63 million tons.
