In Russia, more than 700 million rubles from the federal budget will be allocated in 2024 for the development of various directions of the fisheries complex. This instruction was signed by Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin, as reported on the official website of the Cabinet of Ministers.
The majority of funds will go towards expeditionary research of aquatic bioresources conducted by the All-Russian Scientific Research Institute of Fisheries and Oceanography. This work is necessary to assess the bioresource reserves, formulate scientific forecasts of their catch, and provide recommendations aimed at ensuring the stability of the fisheries industry.
Federal funding will enable organizing such expeditions on Lake Baikal, as well as in seven other regions: the Arkhangelsk, Vologda, Leningrad, and Tyumen regions, the Nenets Autonomous Okrug, the republics of Karelia and Komi.
The remaining portion of the funds will be allocated for major and current repairs at the branches of this institution, which will renovate the premises for conducting scientific research, and for the major repairs of the educational and maritime base of the Kerch State Maritime Technological University.
"We believe that such measures contribute to strengthening our sovereignty in science and technology and improving the quality of training young specialists for the fisheries complex," noted Mikhail Mishustin during a meeting with deputy prime ministers on August 19.
The work is being carried out within the framework of the state program "Scientific and Technological Development of the Russian Federation."
