In May of this year, Russia reduced the volume of fertilizer supplies to the USA to a low level that had not been observed in the last three months.
According to an analysis of data from the American statistical service, carried out by RIA Novosti, it can be seen that in May, Russia delivered fertilizers to the United States worth 173.1 million dollars.
The volume of Russian fertilizer deliveries to the USA decreased by a quarter compared to the previous month, mainly affecting potash fertilizers, the volume of which decreased by 10 times to 5.2 million dollars. Also, shipments of mixed fertilizers decreased almost sixfold, to 1.3 million dollars. At the same time, the import volume of nitrogen fertilizers from the USA remained unchanged for the month, amounting to 162.2 million dollars. In addition, an increase in the import of phosphorus fertilizers by 4.5 million dollars was noted.
Despite the decrease in delivery volumes, Russia remained the second largest exporter of fertilizers to the United States. Canada continued to lead this ranking, despite a 11% decrease in export volume to 300.1 million dollars.
Trinidad and Tobago took third place in the list of exporters, with their fertilizer sales volume increasing by 10.3% to reach 36.2 million dollars. This growth occurred amid a sharp decline in fertilizer imports from Saudi Arabia (by 1.5 times to 29.9 million dollars) and from Qatar (by 3.2 times to 23.2 million).
