Emergency situation due to excessive humidity: agricultural crops in Bashkortostan are at risk. What measures are being taken by the authorities?

In Bashkiria, a state of emergency has been declared due to excessive soil moisture. Harvesting has been delayed by 3-6 months due to above-average precipitation. Documents are being prepared for the entire region, and producers need to harvest crops from 2.2 million hectares.

By the decision of the Ministry of Agriculture of Bashkortostan, a state of emergency due to excessive soil moisture is planned to be introduced in the territory of the republic. Vice-Premier and Minister of Agriculture of Bashkortostan Ilsat Fazrakhmanov announced this at an operational meeting in the government on August 5, according to information from RBC.

"Agricultural workers were supposed to start harvesting two weeks ago, but during this time, three months' worth of precipitation fell on the republic, and in some areas, six months' worth. In other words, half of the annual precipitation norm is observed. Weather forecasts at the moment do not indicate improvement until August 15. Today we are preparing a document on the introduction of a state of emergency due to overmoistening throughout the republic. We are waiting for documents from districts confirming the situation," the minister said.

According to Fazrakhmanov, cases of winter crops sprouting have already been recorded, but the spring crops "are holding out for now."

In total, agricultural producers in Bashkortostan will need to harvest from an area of 2.2 million hectares. This includes 1.3 million hectares of spring grains and leguminous crops, 380 thousand hectares of winter crops, 58 thousand hectares of sugar beets, and 493 thousand hectares of oilseed crops.
