From January to September 2024, the Republic of Tatarstan exported 166.9 thousand tons of grain, leguminous, and oilseeds, as well as processed grain products, including sunflower meal. This is 12.6% more than in the same period in 2023, when 148.1 thousand tons were exported.
The products were shipped to 17 countries under the supervision of specialists from the branch of the Federal State Budgetary Institution "Grain Quality Evaluation Center" in the Republic of Tatarstan.
According to the current year's data, wheat is at the top of the export structure with 26.3 thousand tons, followed by barley with 19.04 thousand tons, and mustard with 6.1 thousand tons. Also exported were millet, flaxseed, buckwheat, oats, corn, lentils, Sudan grass, milk thistle, safflower, yellow sweet clover seeds, and sainfoin.
The geography of exports for some products changed in 2024 due to an increase in the share of Asian countries. For example, Mongolia became a buyer of oilseeds (mustard), and China – of grain crops (wheat, barley) and legumes (peas).
"The products shipped for export undergo testing for compliance with quality and safety requirements in the laboratory of the Federal State Budgetary Institution 'Grain Quality Evaluation Center.' The test results show that the grain meets regulatory documents, including the requirements of importing countries," said Polina Azarenko, Deputy Head of the Inspection Department of the branch of the Federal State Budgetary Institution "Grain Quality Evaluation Center" in the Republic of Tatarstan.
One of the main export products of Tatarstan, sunflower meal, continues to be in demand in the markets of Belarus and Azerbaijan. In the first 9 months of this year, 97.6 thousand tons of sunflower meal were exported with safety and quality certificates, which is 23% more than the export volume of this product in the same period last year (79.4 thousand tons).
In addition, Tatarstan's flax (3.2 thousand tons), vetch (1.4 thousand tons), and millet (0.374 thousand tons) continue to enjoy stable demand in foreign markets. These goods were shipped by road to Belarus, Poland, Serbia, the Czech Republic, and Germany.
There is also active export of oats (0.23 thousand tons) to Spain, Poland, Tajikistan, chickpeas (0.132 thousand tons) to the Czech Republic. After comparing with the data from 2023, a threefold increase in rye exports was noted (from 0.9 thousand tons to 3.2 thousand tons).
